Whew, where to even begin? This podcast covers quite a bit of ground, including player acquisitions, the latest club friendly, potential attacks on Francesco Totti, to some of the most entertaining Twitter questions we've yet received. Julian and Greg were all over the place in thus one, and thus we've made a joint decision to release the pod unedited. This can only end well. Enjoy!

Episode 22: A New Coach and a New D.S.: The New Roma
Thursday Jun 16, 2011
Thursday Jun 16, 2011
Greg and Julian return to talk about the new look Roma under Thomas Di Benedetto. Luis Enrique has been brought in as well as Walter Sabatini, and the two co-hosts spend much time discussing transfers, direction, and the possibilities with the new coach. Is Enrique a gamble or the start of a dynasty? Is Sabatini as good as his reputation suggests? In terms of Enrique, Julian and Greg debate how risky the move was, especially when compared to Carlo Ancelotti. Changes are already ringing in at Roma, and the two also discuss all the latest occurrences including the direction that the Primavera is headed. Enrique is a long term project and both Julian and Greg stress the importance of keeping that in mind. Transfer targets as well are analyzed, including Bojan Kirkic- where will he fit in the lineup?- and Gael Clichy's stats are broken down from last season. Departures are looked at, including one of the craziest/most realistic rumors involving a certain Frenchman. Sabatini sure is a busy man, isn't he?

Season in Review: Our Report Cards

Thursday Jun 02, 2011
The season is now over and Greg, Alex, and Julian do a show looking over the entire year for their beloved Roma. Some of the topics covered:
- The overall crappiness of Roma's year
- Games of the season- both best and worst, in Serie A and in Europe
- Greg cheating on nearly every question
- Some consensus, some disagreements, lots of love
- Reminiscing about the game that cost Claudio Ranieri his job, Nico Burdisso trying to kill a man, the Champions' League "run", Francesco Totti vs Ranieri, and a whole lot more.
- Julian completely forgetting games against Inter and amazing records
- Vincenzo Montella vs Claudio Ranieri: who was better?
- Some major milestones were fondly glanced upon. Chief amongst them: Il Capitano reaching Roberto Baggio.
- Alex messing up the format
- Grade of the season: universally poor. Really really poor.
- Rodrigo Taddei's raison d'etre: The Roma Goran Pandev
- Best and worst players of the season- both overall and by position- including Daniele De Rossi in a category you might not expect
- Sergio's tears, Nico's reliability, Simone Loria's immense scoring record, and the rest of the notable incidents... that they could remember. Hey, they tried.
- A bit of fantacalcio, including Poach a Palermo Starlet (tm) and pick any player that would improve the squad.
- Twitter questions- Totti's hair as a song and more musings.
- Francesco Totti. That's really all one has to say, isn't it?

Episode 20: Roma-Sampdoria, Ending the Season
Monday May 23, 2011
Monday May 23, 2011
Serie A 2010-2011 has come to a close, and Julian, Alex, and Sterling take on the Sampdoria game... at least nominally. In truth there was so much to talk about that, chief amongst which is Carlo Ancelotti's firing from Chelsea. We talked about a ton of stuff this pod, some of which was on topic and lots of which wasn't:
The game, of course, but also lots of excitement over Carlo... mostly from the easily excitable Julian
Youngsters and the huge noticeable absence from the game- what’s his worth and does he have to go at this point?
Then it all gets offtrack and we talk about the league in general, Milan, Juve, Chelsea, King Carlo, Villas Boas, Real Madrid rejects, Americans in England…
Nonsensical comparisons are in here as well- Conte vs Carlo, for example
Europa League: is it even worth it?
Bit of an end of season review-08/09 all over again?
Montella’s future
A good mercato before it even begins?
Final thoughts on Borriello after a season’s worth of performances
Vucinic: stay or go?
DDR in the stands and his reaction- analyzing the unanalyzable. Alex argues for his sale.
Rosella’s farewell and her legacy. Sterling teaches us some Italian!
Lamela, RomAmerica, unsung heroes and a whole lot more. Join us!

Episode 19: Champions league, a three-headed monkey race
Tuesday May 10, 2011
Tuesday May 10, 2011
Another round of agony, excitement and joy means another round of La Magicast. Due to Greg's shyness, Alex's takes the lead on this episode were we welcome back two of our prior solo guests to form a new Voltron-esque super team of podcasting! (No- it is not because Julian wasn't on the show - he was properly taking care of his studies. Good look amico!) And in case you were wondering - we were the "Lions" version of Voltron of course. Sterling and James reprise their excellent roles as guest podcasters and continue the trend of outshining the regulars (Greg and Alex... sigh). In addition to being outclassed by our guests, we did discuss some footie. We started with the Milan game. Greg completely ignored the question at first to tell us what he thought of the reactions to Lazio / Udinese so we start off right where we always leave off - which is to say completely off course. Following the Milan conversation and Alex's complete refusal to congratulate the champions, we moved on to larger discussions around fourth place and the Champions League. We did get quite a lot of questions this time, and unfortunately we did not have the time to answer them all. But keep sending them, as they make us feel warm and fuzzy inside. - The La Magicast crew

Episode 18: The good Roma, the bad Roma and the ugly Roma
Tuesday May 03, 2011
Tuesday May 03, 2011
Round 35 and the dream of Champions League next year is very much alive. La Magicast is back, discussing the Bari game, Totti, the penalties and Daniele «de red» Rossi. And we do a little preview & prediction on the Milan game. Also on the menu: We talk about Borriello: Should he stay or should he go? One of the La Magicast members misses Adriano. We test Greg's superb knowledge of the Twilight series, and we end this special show talking about the link between concieving and how we became romanisti. Se vedemo e forza Roma! - The La Magicast crew PS: We had some technical difficulties... Greg experienced some technical difficulties during the show, so any angry e-mails about the weird and disorganized structure of this show can be sent to the Twilight fan in our crew.

Episode 17: Two games, many misses and a president who flunked in math
Monday Apr 25, 2011
Monday Apr 25, 2011
This week on La Magicast, Alex and Greg - following a hiatus last week - supplement their own lack of knowledge by bringing in Brit Romanista James (@ilroadrunner on Twitter). James is a veritable fountain of knowledge and helped us regulars sound like we have a clue. Cheers James! We hit a TON of topics ... ok, maybe not a ton of topics but we talked a ton about the topics we did go over. What were those topics you ask? The Inter Coppa Italia match. The Chievo match. Mirko's misses. Sulky players and why they need to go (or do they?!). In addition to those game elements we talked a plenty about off the pitch moments such as the news about the Sensi's and their management - or lack thereof - some personnel decisions - more coaching carousel and much more! As always we ended our show with questions from Twitter, Facebook and email - where there was one question in particular that was just too good for words! Ok - it wasn't that good but I sent it in so either send in your own or deal with it! :) Forza Roma! - The La Magicast crew

Episode 16: Palermo Condemns Champions' League Hopes: What Now?
Sunday Apr 17, 2011
Sunday Apr 17, 2011
Julian takes the reigns of the show as Greg and Alex are out for this episode. Lorenzo of the Palermo Offside and Daniela fill in for the two, as we discuss the Palermo game, preview Chievo and Inter in the Coppa Italia, and figure out where Roma goes from here. The spectrum of this pod is a bit broader than usual. Roma of course remain a focal point, but Lorenzo's presence allowed us to discuss a wide range of topics, including:
- Mirko Vucinic, big game player? Daniela has something to say about that...
- The referee's poor performance in the Palermo match
- Loria- our best defender?!
- Should we go for Chievo's Stefano Sorrentino in the summer? Julian discusses two possible pitfalls.
- Buffon and Wikipedia
- The importance of great fullbacks, as Lorenzo can describe.
- Ranocchia, Inter, and Juventus: what Roma should avoid this summer
- The need for youth for the rest of the season.
- Chievo before Easter, a match made in hell?
- And finally, Sampdoria and Serie B: a match made in heaven- at least for us!

Episode 15: Natale for Roma: Does DDR Listen to Dido?
Sunday Apr 10, 2011
Sunday Apr 10, 2011
For this round of La Magicast, Julian, Alex, and Greg welcome well-known Romanista Sterling to the show. Much is discussed in this episode, beginning with the win over Udinese. Francesco Totti: is he irreplaceable in the best way possible? After a fantastic win, Roma dare to dream again and we could hardly contain our excitement. We then consider the possibility that Taddei's crappiness might actually help the team! Then we move onto Philippe Mexes. After his comments about moving to Milan, we spend a lot of time debating just how much of a role he had to play in this seemingly inevitable transfer. Was this a failure of the higher-ups at Roma or something that Mexes really wanted all along? Finally we end the show with Twitter questions, questions from our new Facebook page, and a bit of fantacalcio brought to us by Sterling.
